OCHA tea cup for a real coffee or tea break after Crange

I’m DI, founder of SteinKunstWerk, and I support the idea of a real coffee or tea break. Not the version where you stand at the kitchen counter while replying to three messages. I mean ten minutes in a chair, a cup you enjoy holding and no urgent attempt to solve the rest of the week.

This is not another technical comparison of cup sizes. The English journal already has practical guides for espresso, cappuccino, flat white and tea. This time I am interested in what happens after a busy day: a fairground, a festival, a long drive or simply too many impressions at once.

Where would I go this week?

For lights, speed and carefully organised chaos: Cranger Kirmes.
For free street theatre and music on 7 and 8 August: Dortmund’s MICRO!FESTIVAL.
For a shorter evening with less advance planning: Sommer am U.

If you have just finished a long drive, do not force three events into one day. Being on holiday does not require punishing the calendar.

Four cups, four different moods

I am not going to pretend that you need four cups. You do not. But each one creates a different kind of pause, which is why I selected them for SteinKunstWerk.

KUMO Flat White in beige

The beige KUMO cup is my choice for a pale table, a quiet morning or the moment when the room already contains enough visual information. It looks restrained, but the handmade character becomes clear in the hand.

KUMO Flat White in grey-black

The grey-black KUMO cup feels more Ruhr: graphic, darker and slightly industrial, while still warm to hold.

KUMO Cappuccino Spots

The KUMO Spots cup is more playful. Every handmade piece varies slightly, which gives an everyday object a small visual surprise.

OCHA Mixed Clay

The OCHA Mixed Clay cup is for the moments when the pace really should slow. Tea, matcha or a small coffee all work; the shape simply does not encourage rushing.

My ten-minute return rule

Put keys and bag in their usual place.
Make tea or coffee.
Silence the phone.
Choose one photo that represents the day.
Leave the rest of the unpacking and messages until tomorrow.

The last step is the difficult one. We often try to restore perfect order immediately after a trip. I prefer to restore myself first.

My choice

After a very colourful fairground day, I would choose the beige KUMO. After an industrial-heritage visit, the grey-black version. For a long conversation, OCHA feels right.
