Not every terrace needs the same candle. Key factors are the size of the seating area, the desired lighting effect, and whether you want to create a single focal point or several small islands of light.

A single candle in the middle of a large table is decorative, but it doesn't automatically reach the entire seating area. It is often more sensible to place citronella candles where people actually sit – securely, protected from wind, and with enough distance from flammable materials.
