Scent Zones in Small Rooms: Work, Life, and Relaxation

In a small home, you don’t need several scents working at once. Time-defined scent zones support the functions of working, living and relaxing in the same room without an overdose of scent.

Three time zones

• Work: daylight, clear surfaces and for limited time a light citrus or cedar.
• Living: no scent or a single soft candle while the room is actively used.
• Relax: air out first; then choose lavender, tea, or no scent at all.

Visual cues

An origami pot can mark the work zone, a KUMO cup the break, a low candle holder the evening. Move or remove the object when the phase is over.

Rules of clarity

1. Don't run several diffusers in a small room.
2. Wait and ventilate before changing scents.
3. Keep the sleeping area low-scent.
4. Consider the sensitivities of those sharing the room.
