Original Raysin 200: material, making and care

What is Original Raysin 200?

Rayher's Raysin 200 is a calcium-sulfate-based casting powder. It is mixed with water and allowed to set. It is not cement concrete. The surface can be fine and matte, but the material is not automatically waterproof.

How we make our own decorations

Our own items explicitly labelled Original Raysin 200 are cast individually and hand-finished after curing. Bannik Design items are described by their manufacturer as concrete and should not be mistaken for Raysin.

Water and cleaning

Untreated Raysin absorbs moisture and must not remain exposed to water. Use decorative items in dry settings and clean gently. Food contact, outdoor use and exposed flames require explicit product-specific approval.

Painting finished pieces

Completely dry castings may be painted using coatings compatible with the material and the manufacturer's instructions. Surface coatings do not automatically certify a piece for food or water-filled vases.
