Jasmine tea is the epitome of Chinese tea culture.
It is a delicately flavored green tea that has symbolized purity, tranquility, and balance for centuries. Its origins date back to the Song Dynasty (960–1279 AD), when jasmine blossoms were first used to give fine jasmine tea an enchanting, floral aroma. What was once reserved for the imperial court is now a true national beverage in China – and a global symbol of harmony and mindful enjoyment.
The Jasmine Pearls variety, also known as Zhen Zhu , is considered particularly exquisite. This tea art is among the oldest and most elaborate forms of jasmine flavoring. Originally, it was a tribute tea —a gift presented by Chinese tea masters to emperors to demonstrate their respect and craftsmanship. Each individual pearl symbolizes patience, meticulousness, and artisanal perfection.
Today, this jasmine tea is part of SteinKunstWerk 's collection of hand-selected teas – curated by tea specialists, lovingly packaged, and ideally combined with our scented candles and ritual objects . Every cup becomes a small moment of inner peace.
🌿 Production & Tradition
For centuries, Zhen Zhu has been produced using a virtually unchanged method: The freshly picked green tea is first lightly dried and then rolled by hand into small pearls . Next, the tea masters layer the tea and fresh jasmine blossoms alternately. Gentle warmth opens the blossoms, releasing their delicate aroma into the tea leaves.
Depending on the desired intensity, this process is repeated several times – always with fresh blossoms. The result is a naturally fragrant tea with a harmonious balance of floral sweetness and delicate freshness. The jasmine blossoms are then carefully removed so that only their pure, ethereal bouquet remains in the jasmine tea . This traditional flavoring process distinguishes genuine Jasmine Pearls from industrially scented teas – here, pure handcraftsmanship goes into every pearl.
☕ Taste & Character
Gentle, fruity, floral: The infusion displays a bright golden yellow color and exudes the typical, delicate aroma of fresh jasmine blossoms. The taste is soft, well-rounded, and accompanied by a subtle sweetness. The green tea base brings a light freshness and natural clarity – perfectly balanced between delicate and invigorating. This tea has a calming effect without being tiring – ideal for mindful breaks, meditation, or simply a moment for yourself.
With each infusion, the aroma unfolds anew – from floral top notes through a soft, almost honey-like middle to a mild, mineral finish. This makes Jasmine Pearls a ritual tea , ideal for multiple infusions, revealing new facets with every cup.
🔮 Ritual & Mindfulness
At SteinKunstWerk, we understand jasmine tea as part of a conscious ritual. Light a tarot candle , inhale the fragrance, and watch as the tiny pearls open in the hot water. This slow unfolding is more than just a visual spectacle—it serves as a reminder that tranquility, patience, and warmth can touch all the senses.
Complement your tea ritual with a suitable teacup or incense burner and enjoy the interplay of light, fragrance, and flavor. This creates an atmosphere that is both clarifying and grounding – a moment of pure mindfulness.
🍯 Preparation – how to make the perfect infusion
-
Amount of tea: approx. 10 g Jasmine Pearls per liter of water
-
Water temperature: approx. 80 °C – not boiling, to protect the delicate leaves.
-
Brewing time: 2–3 minutes (shorter = finer & more floral, longer = stronger & sweeter)
-
Multiple infusions: up to 3 times possible – with decreasing strength, but increasing softness
Tip: Use a glass teapot or a light-colored porcelain cup to watch the tiny pearls open. This is not only beautiful to look at, but also part of the Chinese tea tradition, where the visual experience is just as important as the taste.
