Third Advent: Christmas meatballs
Third Advent: Christmassy meatballs – The recipe for the perfect Advent snack
Ho, ho, ho! The third Sunday of Advent is here, and you feel like you need something savory after all those cookies and chocolate Santas? Then buckle up, because today we're turning the simple meatball into a festive star!
🎄 Christmas spirit meets meatball
Why always roast goose or sausage with potato salad? Let's get creative and give the meatball a Christmassy twist. Imagine a juicy meatball with a pinch of cinnamon and a hint of gingerbread spice – sounds unusual? But tastes amazing!
The recipe: Christmas meatballs with mulled wine sauce
Ingredients (for approx. 12 meatballs):
- 500 g minced meat (mixed or as desired)
- 1 egg
- 1 stale bread roll (soaked in milk)
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp gingerbread spice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp mustard
For the mulled wine sauce:
- 200 ml mulled wine
- 1 tbsp cranberries (or cranberry jam)
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp honey
- salt, pepper
preparation
1. Prepare the meatball mixture:
Place the minced meat in a bowl and mix thoroughly with the onions, egg, the soaked bread roll, and all the spices. The cinnamon and gingerbread notes give the dish a Christmassy flavor. Season with salt and pepper. Form into small meatballs.
2. Roast:
Fry the meatballs in a pan with a little oil until golden brown on both sides. Your kitchen will already smell like a cross between a Christmas market and grandma's Sunday dinner.
3. Conjure up mulled wine sauce:
Heat the mulled wine in a saucepan, add the cranberries and honey. Thicken with the cornstarch dissolved in water and season with salt and pepper. The sauce should have a slightly sweet and spicy flavor.
Serving suggestion
Serve the meatballs on a bed of lamb's lettuce and drizzle generously with the mulled wine sauce. Serve with potato gratin or a freshly baked baguette.
Humorous warning
Be careful, these meatballs can be addictive and may lead to "discreet" seconds. If someone at the table p

If you suddenly sing "Oh Frikadelle, oh Frikadelle, how delicious your flavors are" , take it as a compliment.
Happy third Advent and enjoy your meal! 🎅✨
