The fourth Advent: elves, cookies and a sip of humor
Ho, ho, ho! It's the fourth Sunday of Advent, and the elves are in top form! While most of us are busy with last-minute Christmas gift shopping, the little helpers in the workshop have a completely different mission: baking cookies—but not just any cookies. No, these are seasoned with a generous shot of alcohol! After all, you have to prepare for the holidays, right?
The elf cookies: A recipe for adults
Here's the elves' secret recipe for their famous "Tipsy Cookies." These cookies are perfect for anyone who wants to celebrate the season of love with a little buzz. Warning: These cookies might make you sing along to the next Christmas carol—no matter how off-key!
Ingredients:
- 250 g butter (for flavor and to make the elves happy)
- 200 g sugar (because we all want a little sweetness)
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar (for the Christmas scent)
- 2 eggs (the elves say they bring good luck!)
- 400 g flour (to hold the cookies together)
- 100 g ground almonds (for the crunch)
- 150 ml rum or whiskey (depending on your preference – there are no limits!)
- 1 tsp baking powder (so the cookies really rise)
- A pinch of salt (because life without salt would be bland)
Preparation:
-
Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. The elves recommend singing Christmas carols while you do this—it makes everything easier!
-
Add eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time. If you want to add a little splash of rum to the batter—why not? The elves always do that!
-
Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine flour, ground almonds, baking powder and salt.
-
Bring everything together: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and sugar mixture and knead thoroughly. Now comes the best part: pour in the rum or whiskey! Continue kneading until a smooth dough forms.
-
Form cookies: Form the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. The elves recommend flattening them slightly—after all, they should look pretty!
-
Bake: Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 10–12 minutes until golden brown. Then let them cool—if you can!
-
Decorate: If you like, you can decorate the cookies with icing or chocolate. And don't forget: A little splash of alcohol on top makes everything better!
The perfect enjoyment
Serve your tipsy cookies on the fourth Sunday of Advent at a cozy gathering with friends or family—maybe even with a glass of mulled wine or two? And if anyone asks why you're so cheerful, just say, "These are the elf cookies!"
With that in mind, I wish you a joyful fourth Advent full of laughter, love, and, of course, delicious cookies! Cheers! 🎄🍪🥃
PS: Don't forget to hide the cookies well – otherwise the elves might come by and eat them all!
